GOT Season 8 Episode 1 Recap- Daenerys and Jon Entering Winterfell

Little away from the expected pop-up map for season 8, the episode began with a focus on the wall that is broken. The mother of dragons, Daenerys Targaryen along with Jon snow entered the Winterfell along with a mindful of settlements. She brings everyone alongside her that included Tyrion, The Hound, Gendry and Lord Varys. Each had their own exciting way of making an entry. Another shift comes with Sansa looking little disappointed with her brother, Jon while Arya seems pleased to see Jon as well dragons. Jon bending the knee to Daenerys made Lyanna Mormont and a lot of others unhappy. The three-eyed raven, Brandon kept warning everyone of the threats that he sensed upon their head.

The most significant twist was, of course, the reunion between Jon and his people alongside with Dany. The people had sent Jon southward but never expected him returning with a bent knee to Dany. He and Tyrion tried convincing that it was a necessary decision and is all done to save the North along with the rest of Westeros. But it seems his subjects are doubtful according to Mormont.

No matter what you say, the shot was definitely epic for Jon and Dany aka, Ice and Fire swaggering their horse’s side by side as a power couple. The commoners glare at Dany while Jon comforts her by saying, ‘Northerners don’t trust outsiders”.

GOT S08 Episode 01-The Great Hall

Meanwhile, Sansa has called all the Northern Bannerman to Winterfell. The Army of the Dead had broken the wall. The young Lord Umber is told to go back to the Last Hearth and bring his men. Lyanna Mormont comes up with a highly disapproving speech attacking Jon Snow for giving up his King in the North title to bend the knee to Dany. Then Tyrion later steps up giving understatement that Cersei’s army will arrive soon. One could also see Sansa’s clever mind making decisions like in other seasons.

Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 1- In King’s Landing

Down in King’s Landing, Cersei seems to have joined hands with a man who is no match for her strength. Euron Greyjoy joins Cersei’s in her bed with telegraphs saying he is trying to get himself killed. Cersei gets offended but with Euron vowing to put a prince in the queen’s belly, and she pregnant with Jaime’s baby calms her down. Euron seems to be a man who can master Cersei whereas Jon might give Dany a run for her money.

Meanwhile, Khaleesi’s dragons are not eating and according to her, it seems they do not like the North. The interesting scene is when Khaleesi makes Jon ride a dragon with her on the other. The biggest revelation comes when Sam tells Jon the truth about him being Aegon Targaryen aka the equitable successor to the throne.

So now the next big question is what will he do? Will he break his pledge to Khaleesi after knowing his power? Well, only upcoming episodes can answer these questions. Finally, the episode ended with Jamie reaching Winterfell where he sees Bran who is crippled because of him.
